Oregon State University Dixon Recreation Center
The 118,000 sf expansion and renovation of the Dixon Recreation Center created new program space that includes a three court gymnasium, an 11 lap-per-mile running track, several large multi-purpose rooms, a large weight room, one of the nation’s largest student climbing gyms, a wellness suite and administration areas.
The program is organized around a multi-level, daylight-filled “fitness hall” that spans between the existing buildings. Located west of the fitness hall, a two level entrance lounge forms the social heart of the center with a juice bar, fireplace and sitting areas. A corresponding outdoor entrance plaza is formed by the new additions, and offers sitting areas and views to the adjacent sports fields and distant mountains.
